Unitrin cuts IT expenses using DRC professional services.

HONOLULU, HI – April 5, 2010
Decision Research Corporation (DRC), a rating and policy processing software solution provider to the property & casualty insurance industry, announced today that Unitrin Direct® has successfully migrated its policy administration system from a mainframe system to a Microsoft Windows platform. Unitrin Direct utilized DRC’s professional services to complete the mainframe migration within 8 months of launching the project. Unitrin Direct has now consolidated all versions of the DRC application to a Windows environment.
“Using DRC’s technical resources in addition to our internal staff, we were able to migrate an acquired book of business off a mainframe within 1 year of acquiring the system” said John Elcock, Vice President and CIO with Unitrin Direct. “DRC resources have considerable insurance knowledge in addition to their technical capabilities. Partnering with them on the migration enabled us to start this project sooner than originally anticipated. As a result of this migration, Unitrin will realize considerable cost savings this year and in the future.”
