After a rewarding return to in-person conferences at ITC 2021 last month, DRC is rounding out the end of the year with a circuit of industry conferences — all in San Diego, California — kicking off in November with the Casualty Actuarial Society’s (CAS) Annual Meeting.
This year’s meeting will be a hybrid virtual/in-person event, beginning Nov. 8 running through Nov. 10 at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. Virtual and in-person elements will be in place for attendees to learn, network and view exhibitions comfortably, with Eric Siegel, founder of the Predictive Analytics World, slated to speak on successful machine learning.
In-person CAS event features will also include numerous networking activities, interactive speaker sessions and access to all of the meeting’s educational sessions and roundtables. There will be topical sessions on concerns surrounding wildfires and the changes to modeling and regulations, the pet insurance market and a “hands-on” tutorial to help attendees become better acquainted with GitHub.
Those who opt to attend virtually will be able to chat with speakers and other attendees during live-streamed sessions and access 15+ hours of in-person sessions for the duration of the meeting. Virtual attendees will also have the option to register for the full Monday-Wednesday program, or individual days.
Next up is the WSIA Annual Marketplace in-person for Nov. 16-19, also at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina with some activities also taking place at the adjacent Hyatt. As the “premier wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry event,” this year’s marketplace will feature presentations from Barbara Ingraham (Verisk Insurance Solutions), Alex Kaplan (Amwins Group) and Daniel Vetter (Descartes Insurance Solutions, Inc.).
On Thursday, Nov. 18, there will be an executive panel open to all attendees, hosted by WSIA’s U40 and moderated by Adam Care (HSB). Panelists include Cristi Carrington (Brown & Riding), Bryan Clark (Gorst & Compass), Erin Dolan (RSUI) and Carlton Maner (AXIS).
Lastly, after a well-earned Thanksgiving break we’ll wrap up our 2021 conferences at the Digital Insurance DIGIN conference. Like CAS, this year’s conference will allow attendees to participate in person (Dec. 8-10) or virtually (Dec. 15-17). DIGIN will also hold its annual celebration of Women in Insurance Leadership on Dec. 8.
Nationwide’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Angela Klett, is this year’s keynote speaker. In her keynote address, slated for Thursday, Dec. 9, Klett will discuss the most important changes facing the insurance sector and the industry’s need to adapt.
We’re looking forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events!
