As part of DRC’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to further community programs, DRC is proud to sponsor Ohana Arts. Ohana Arts is a non-profit whose mission is to inspire and engage people through professional arts programs while instilling the value of “ohana” or family.
Through Ohana Arts, students are able to learn from professionals from the performing arts industry, including active Broadway performers and faculty from the nation’s best university musical theater programs. The Ohana Arts Program makes these opportunities accessible to Hawaii’s young local talent. They have been able to reach audiences of up to 3,000 which provides a much-needed platform.
Budget cuts in the arts nationwide in schools and communities have made programs like the Ohana Arts much more needed than before. It is a means of building confidence, self-expression, creativity, teamwork, and public speaking – all of which are transferable skills that will set students up for success no matter which career path they end up in. DRC admires the Ohana Arts’ commitment to keeping the arts alive and allowing it to have a great, life-long impact on students.
