Korow notes, “John Elcock, CIO of Kemper Direct, gave a very informative presentation on the steps they went through, and the obstacles they overcame as Kemper Direct developed and released their mobile app.

Korow adds, “Kemper licensed Decision Research’s DecisionMaker™ Mobile product as the basis for their iPhone, Android and mobile web platform apps, which enabled Kemper to quickly release a mobile product that gave their customers the capability to enter the first notice of loss, make a payment on their policy, or get a quote.  The DecisionMaker™ Mobile product is available for license and branding by carriers, MGAs and agencies. ”

Overview of IASA 2012 Hot Topics Track Session 276:  Mobile Technology in the Real World:  This session presented a framework and case examples for planning, deploying, and managing mobile technology in an insurance company.

Mobile technologies are advancing faster than most carriers can keep up. Employees, customers, and agents are racing ahead of the typical carrier IT infrastructure as they adopt these technologies.

Leading carriers have taken a strategic approach by adopting a mobile technology management framework—balancing market demands with costs, security, timing, and infrastructure realities.

After attending this session, audience members gained the knowledge to be able to:

  • Describe a model for managing mobile technology
  • Evaluate alternatives for deploying mobile functionality across disparate platforms
  • Describe how other companies are managing mobile technology
